La lune au-dessus de la Seine à Vétheuil.
The Seine river runs past the village green at Vétheuil on its way towards Paris. In summer there are huge harvest moons which hover over the river making it all look magical.

“When I look at my historical work from early gouache days through to recent times, I understand the move to monochrome better as a natural withdrawal from colour overload.
As the french put it “La touche légère d’aquarelle allège la charge sensorielle”. The light touch of watercolour lessens the sensory load”.
This applies to both the method and viewing of the work!

La Péninsule
I don’t know of another medium that delivers solid matt black and moody mid tones as well as black gesso does.
The cliffs at the end of the Tawaharanui peninsula rise straight up from the ocean and the clouds that line up there are comic book in their cuteness.
