Raymond Guerrier was born in 1920. Largely self-taught, Guerrier immersed himself in the art museums of Paris, especially drawn to the work of Goya and Cezanne. Guerrier had his first exhibit in 1947; by 1957 he had exhibited worldwide, including London, Paris, Turin, Tokyo, and at the Hammer Gallery in New York City, and that year was awarded the Chevaliers des Arts et Lettres. Work by the artist is found in museums of modern art and national collections throughout the world, including the Musé de L'Art Moderne in Paris,

 Musée Réatu in Arles, Musée Cantini of Marseilles, and Musée of Tokyo. He died in 2002
