Heading 5
La Péninsule

The peninsula presents itself as subject in my work from time to time. I became aware of it as
a sort of recurring graphic device when I was introducing myself to the french at the opening in
Vétheuil in 2025 : New Zealand has a fascination for the french and they were interested to know
where I came from in NZ.
In the past they believed that the terrain where you lived etched itself into your facial features.
This idea came from times when people lived their whole lives where they were born and so is not so
relevant today - but I still liked the idea of it.
I am not sure what "La Péninsule" says about my face - but I know that massive volumes of space above
the head are an antidote to life's pressures.
Walking at Maori Bay

At the end of the Tawharanui Peninsula you can walk along the coast from the lagoon to Maori Bay. You are walking 5 metres from open sea and some days the waves crash at you and you feel at the mercy of the ocean. I had a similar experience in Êtretat in France : the unpredictable energy and massive power of the ocean is almost overwhelming. It comes at you with force.
LA CHUTE ( The waterfall)

This work has achieved the the simplicity I wanted. It accords with the less is more" mantra I am currently working.
